Serves: 2-3
Preparation time: 5 mins.
Cooking time: 12 mins.
Ingredients:
1 cup oats (i used quaker quick oats)
2 ½ cups water
½ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
5-6 curry leaves
1 medium sized onion (finely chopped)
1 medium sized tomato (finely chopped)
1-2 green chillies
½ teaspoon garam masala
½ teaspoon lemon juice(optional)
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste
Directions:
- Dry roast the oats in a pan until golden brown. Keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin, mustard seeds and curry leaves.
- Once they splutter, add in chopped onions and green chillies and saute until translucent.
- Add in chopped tomatoes and cook until mushy.
- Add in turmeric powder, garam masala, red chilli powder and salt. Saute the spices for a minute to get a nice aroma.
- Now, pour in water and allow it to boil.
- Once the water starts boiling, add in roasted oats.
- Mix well and cook it covered for another 3-4 minutes.
- Oats should be cooked by now and you can adjust the consistency as per your needs at this time by adding water or boiling the oats for more thicker version.
- Add in chopped coriander leaves and serve warm.
Tips:
- You can add in veggies as per your choice to make it even more healthy.
