Corn Kebab | Corn Cutlet | Healthy Corn Cutlet

“Corn Kebabs” are a great party appetizer and a healthy snack for your kids as well. They are very easy to make and you can make a healthy version by baking or air frying them. If you want to make it for a party then you can deep fry them for extra crispness and color. They are delicious and you would like to make them often, if you make them once.



Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 20 mins.
Cooking Time: 20 mins.

Ingredients:

2 medium sized potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed)
½ cup onion (finely chopped)
½ cup green bell pepper (finely chopped)
1 cup frozen corn (thawed)
1 cup homemade breadcrumbs
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
½ teaspoon garam masala
½ teaspoon chaat masala
3 tablespoon gram flour
1 tablespoon corn flour
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves (finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Oil for frying (if frying)

Directions:

  1. Boil the potatoes and peel and mash them. Wash and chop the onion and capsicum.
  2. Allow the frozen corn to thaw and then transfer to grinder jar. Pulse for a minute to get a coarse paste of corn.
  3. Mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl including the spices and homemade breadcrumbs.
  4. Make small barrel shaped kebabs or the shape you like by taking small portion in your palm and pressing them to make a firm pattie.
  5. Coat all over with breadcrumbs to make them more crispy.
  6. You can either shallow fry the kebabs or bake them for a healthier version.
For Oven:
Preheat the oven at 210 degree celsius and place your kebabs on the tray. Bake them for 10 mins or until golden brown and flip them in between to cook evenly.
For shallow frying:
Put some oil on a flat pan or tawa and heat it. Shallow fry them by flipping over in between until golden brown on both sides.
  1. Serve hot with coriander chutney or regular tomato ketchup.

Tips:

  • You can make these ahead of time and freeze them in ziploc bag. Just bake and tasty snack is ready in minutes.
  • I made the healthy version of these corn kebabs and made it in my microwave in air fryer mode. This helps skipping all the oil and made healthy snack.
  • In the video, I have made kebabs by shallow frying to make it more clear for readers.
  • For parties, you can just deep fry if you want extra crispiness and more golden brown colour.

Step By Step:

Disclaimer:
Video and photographs differ as I made video and took pictures at different times. Photographs show the oven baked barrel shaped kebabs, while the video shows shallow fried round flat kebabs. It is upto you what method you choose but both versions were equally delicious.
